1607: Jesuit college at La Flèche founded;
1618: Grotius condemned to life imprisonment by Holland's Calvinists.
1623: Mersenne formed a correspondence circle. Its members were: Gassendi, Kepler, Galileo, Campanella, Descartes, Hobbes, Torriceli, Fermat and some other nathematicians and scientists of that time; it lasted until 1648;

1676: Leibniz visited Spinoza;
